After 83 years serving Mt. Lebanon, the last trolley traveled Washington Road on April 14, 1984. In recognition of the event, the community held a Trolley Day celebration. Shortly thereafter, the trolley tracks, wires, and concrete “safety” dividers were removed from Washington Road and work began for the new Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on Shady Drive East.
