FOR RESEARCHERS

Access resources about Mt. Lebanon’s history, from house histories and oral histories to genealogy research and other archival resources.

Mt. Lebanon News (Members Only)

The Mt. Lebanon News was a long-running local newspaper that chronicled the history and daily life of Mt. Lebanon for much of the 20th century. The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon houses digitized copies of some issues of the Mt. Lebanon News, from 1946 – 1979. HSML also houses a few digitized versions of the Mt. Lebanon Times from 1927-28.

High School Yearbook Archive

Browse Mt. Lebanon High School yearbooks from 1931 to 2012 through the Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s searchable digital archive. Browse by year or search for names and memories from Lebo’s past.

House History Research

We check property permit and drawing records on microfiche at the history center, though not every home has records or drawings. If we find images, we can have them cleaned up and either printed or emailed to you as a PDF through a local vendor for a fee (discounted for Historical Society members).

Digital History Project

Explore the Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s Digital History Project, a collaborative archive featuring historic photographs that document the people, places, and communities of Mt. Lebanon, Dormont, and Castle Shannon.

St. Clair Cemetery

Learn more about St. Clair Cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in the South Hills. The earliest burials dating to the early 1800s. The cemetery is owned by the Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church (MLEPC). More than 200 families are represented here and there are close to (if not more than) 1,000 burials. The property takes up about 2 acres of land.
