In 1966, Betty Ann Stroup became library director, serving until 1988. Under her leadership, the library added a phonograph collection, a microfilm-based charging system, a copy machine, homebound services, and saw the installation of Joe Sevello’s beloved murals of American folk heroes and clowns in the lower level lobby and stairwell.
